Seabed habitats could capture almost three times more carbon than forests in the UK every year if left undisturbed, according to a new report.

The team at the Convex Seascape Survey are really excited to see this new research from the Scottish Association for Marine Science.

The UK study is the first in the world to quantify the amount of carbon stored in all of its seabed habitats, and has tried to put a figure on just how valuable seabeds are as a carbon store.

This important piece of UK research highlights how crucial the work of the Convex Seascape Survey is in understanding the global blue carbon picture. By identifying worldwide blue carbon stores and understanding the impact of human activity, we can better protect and harness these precious carbon stores across the globe.
