Channel Four reports on exciting new research quantifying the blue carbon stored in the UK's seabeds. Convex Seascape Survey scientist, Dr Ceri Lewis, provides expert commentary.

Exciting new research from the Scottish Association for Marine Science has quantified the carbon found within UK seabeds.

This study is the first to quantify the amount of carbon stored in UK seabed habitats, and aimed to put a figure on just how valuable our seabeds are as a carbon store.

This important piece of research highlights how crucial the work of the Convex Seascape Survey is in understanding the global blue carbon picture. By identifying worldwide blue carbon stores and understanding the impact of human activity, we can better protect and harness these precious carbon stores across the globe.

Footage of Convex Seascape Survey fieldwork is used throughout this clip, and you’ll see one of our scientists, Dr Ceri Lewis, from the University of Exeter, providing expert commentary between 2:01 – 2:42.
